Commercial Roofs

TPO - A Seamless Roof System

PVC (polyvinyl chloride)

A flexible, thermoplastic membrane manufactured using an ultraviolet-resistant polyvinyl chloride.

Ballasted, mechanically attached or fully adhered with a solvent-based adhesive.

When it comes to commercial roofs, HORISONS focuses on newer, safer, greener technologies like single ply systems of TPO & PVC.  HORISONS no longer installs MOD BIT or EPDM roofs.  In our opinion MOD BIT and EPDM are old technologies that are no longer suited for the environmental conditions of Houston.

TPO & PVC roofing systems are ideal for Houston.

Although there are several manufacturers, HORISONS chooses to partner with MuleHide & Versico due to their product technology & local engineering resources.

TPO (Thermoplastic Olefin or Polyolefin)

Flexible, single-ply, ethylene propylene rubber roof membranes with hot-air welded seams for a seamless roof.

Ballasted, mechanically attached or fully adhered with a solvent-based adhesive.

TPO SYSTEM BENEFITS

ENERGY EFFICIENT ROOFS  White surfaces have been shown to reflect up to 78% of the sun’s rays to reduce air-conditioning costs. The superb reflectivity of white TPO even reduces the heat build-up under the membrane.

THE BEST LIFECYCLE TPO provides excellent resistance to fire, UV, airborne bacteria, and industrial pollutants such as air-conditioning coolants. Contains no chlorine, a plus for the environment.

THICKER TOP PLY More product on top of the scrim where you need it most, one of the thickest top plies in the industry.

STRENGTH Keeps moisture out, yet lightweight, making it ideal for new construction and retrofit installations without adding excessive weight to the roof deck. TPO can handle the desert sun, sand, arctic freezes, and torrential downpours. Stands up to rooftop traffic, tools, and equipment.

FLEXIBILITY The membrane remains flexible in hot and cold temperatures so it will not split or crack.
REPAIRABLE

TPO membrane remains repairable year after year, allowing for ease of future cutouts, alterations and tie-ins.
Can be cleaned to retain like-new appearance.

Thermoplastic polyolefin based for superior strength and weatherability

Meets or exceeds ASTM performance standards.

ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY No plasticizer migration.  No chlorine.  Recyclable.

PVC SYSTEM BENEFITS

ENERGY EFFICIENT ROOF  White surfaces have been shown to reflect up to 78% of the sun’s rays to reduce air-conditioning costs. The superb reflectivity of white PVC even reduces the heat build-up under the membrane. PVC white membrane adds to the aesthetics of the building while increasing energy efficiency.

FLEXIBILITY  The membrane remains flexible in hot and cold temperatures so it will not split or crack. PVC can handle the desert sun, sand, arctic freezes, and torrential downpours.

THE BEST LIFECYCLE  PVC provides excellent resistance to fire, UV, airborne bacteria, and industrial pollutants such as air conditioning coolants. Reinforced membrane is engineered to remain dimensionally stable over time.

LIGHTWEIGHT YET STRONG SYSTEM  Weighing less than 1 lb. per square foot makes it ideal for new construction and retrofit installations without adding excessive weight to the roof deck. Stands up to repeated exposure to severe climates, high winds, building movement, and routine rooftop traffic.

HEAT-WELDED SEAM STRENGTH Mule-Hide PVC roofs use a heat-welding process that fuses the membrane seams to form a permanent, watertight seal. Superior seam strength provides greater wind uplift resistance
